Night Reflections

If you are looking for something to do one evening and you look out your window and see some interesting cloud formations, Vaseux Lake is a fun place to go with your camera. I headed out just after sunset Saturday night and spent about 20 minutes on the shore trying different shots and angles…all the while watching a beaver swim by, a bat overhead, fish jumping around me like crazy and some ducks who came to say hello. Both of these shots came off the camera with the clouds and lake reflections being a nice deep blue with dark mountain contrasts. I’ve taken these kinds of shots at Vaseux before so I wanted to try for a different look. I used the color monochrome feature in Aperture which gave it this particular look. I really like the moody, mysterious look that the brown tones give it.

  1. It is surprising how much light can be recorded at night. These are beautiful!
